In 1992, two Annapolis-based physicians, Dr. Michael Epstein and Dr. Charles King, opened the Arundel Ambulatory Center for Endoscopy, to provide their patients with outpatient surgical care. At that time, the concept of an ambulatory care center was relatively new. Our surgical center has recently expanded to offer a broader range of surgical procedures and has been renamed as the Arundel Ambulatory Surgery Center (AASC).
AASC is one of the finest centers of its kind in this region, providing new standards for patient care and medical research. The patient- focused design of each room shows our commitment to quality. This center serves as a model of excellence and has been reviewed by the state of Maryland and the federal governments.

The initial emphasis at our center was digestive disorder procedures. The facility has become a surgical resource center for other physicians in the region due to it’s central location and state-of-the-art medical equipment.

The completion of the surgical suite in 1998 allows the Arundel Ambulatory Surgery Center to offer other surgical procedures including:

- neuro diagnostics and intervention
- orthopedics
- gynecology
- plastic surgery
- podiatry
- ear, nose, throat surgery
- general surgery

The doctors, working with an equally qualified staff, form a team of skilled professionals. Together, they bring the most technologically advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures available to their patients.
