About Dr. Lavery

Eric A. Lavery, MD, is the newest member of the team at Digestive Disorders Associates, which has locations in Annapolis and Gambrills, Maryland. Dr. Lavery has over 12 years of experience as a gastroenterologist and cares for adult patients with a broad array of gastroenterology or hepatology issues. He has a particular interest in colorectal cancer screening, esophageal disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).   

Dr. Lavery earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University.  He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for medical students. After graduation from medical school, he entered active-duty Naval service and completed his internal medicine internship at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). He subsequently completed a flight surgery tour in Keflavik, Iceland, prior to returning to NMCSD and completing his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship. He served as the Chief of Gastroenterology at NMCSD and as faculty in the associated gastroenterology fellowship program. 

He recently retired from the United States Navy while stationed in Bremerton, Washington, after 21 years of service. He is board certified in gastroenterology and is a Fellow in the American College of Gastroenterology. 

Dr. Lavery believes in providing high quality, individualized care for patients in a compassionate manner.  During his off time, he enjoys gardening, jogging, and spending time with his family.
